as a dangerous man. Henry Kilburn, 17. for breaking and entering •to twelve months imprisonment. As he left tile Court he was seized by his mother, who cried ‘‘Oil! he's my baby, lie's my baby.” Outside the door of the Court she collapsed and was taken from the building moaning pitifully. William Murray Aitken found guilty of using obscene language bail fourteen convictions against him including a threat to kill his wile and incest. He was sentenced to twelve months imprisonment and to be under mental obe.srvntion. Roy Morrison and Lawrence Xacey. for robbery with violence at Ouehnuga, were .sentenced, the former to three years and the latter to two and a half years hard labour. RUXKDiX. A lay !). I At the .Supreme Court, Henry Km- ! met Shiel, 26. niairigdr- and Stanley Kittbiner Barnett, 22, found guilty on eh urges of false pretences, forgery and conspiracy in connect ion with a motor ear dead, came up for sentence. Judge Reec! said Shiel thought lie was doing a smart thing and something the law could not catch him on. it would lie regrettable if the law could not catch him. It would have been a judicial scandal bad the jury, by a verdict of not guilty proclaimed to the Dominion that such acts were justified in a business transai lion. Shiel was fined £260 sterling with all alternative of sis mouths gaol. Barnett, whom tho Judge looked upon as a tool was admitted to two years probation. Ashley George Faigan, 20, was sentenced on a charge of manslaughter and negligent driving. A pedestrian was knocked down by a motor and killed. In connection with this charge a point of law was suhr.iited by counsel during the hearing in regard to the culpability of an unlicensed driver, and was reserved to the Court of Appeal. The Judge said there was too much reckless driving, and the Court could not pass over eases of individuals. usually individuals of goad character. If it. did there would he no examples and no deterrent. Accused was ordered to lie detained at the Borstal Institute for three months and disqualified from obtaining a motor drivers license for three years. The Judge added that the sentence was on the second charge. On the first charge sentence was postponed till the. question reserved for the Court of Appeal was settled. It’s decision would be referred to him. lie would not increase the accused’s punishment.
