At the conclusion of the banquet ATr.i Winslow delivered a speech in which she announced thateshe and her partner had decided to take a year’s matrimonial holiday. She declared: Married people deserve furlough from married life. The separation of Mr Winslow and myself is not permanent perhaps. I don’t indict marriage as a failure I do say however, that it is not compatible with worldly aggrandisements on the part of the woman in the partnership. Mr. Wnslow heartily agreed with his wife. “I feel sure,” he said,“that this matrimonial vacation will be a good thing for Tlirya and her literary career. Two weeks ago Mrs Winslow returned from her year’s vacation. She discovered that during her absence hoi husband had changed his occupation Ho had become the editor and the owner of a magazine called Modern Marriage. She also made other discoveries. These she described to-day in the Supreme Court of New A ork in her suit to make the matrimonal vacation permanent. She petitioned for absolute divorce. The judge reserved his decision.
