.'Australian & N.Z. Cable Association.] GENEVA, May 4. The stage is set for the opening of the Economic Conference to-day. At. Tlicunis (Eelgium) will preside. The proceedings will begin with a discussion on the general economic situation of the world, with special reference to the viewpoints of the different countries, after which the Conference is expected to break up into Commissions on various subjects. GENEVA, May 4. 31. Qsinski, is the leader ol the Russian delegation. In an interview he said; “Our participation in this Conference in no way enlarges the Soviet’s chance of entry into the League of Nations. AYe regard that question as out of sight. Our primary task here is to explain the economic .-JHkC' social situation of Russia in relation to world-wide conditions, and to attempt to find a basis of co-operation between the Russian. Communistic system and the outside world.
