[bv TELEGRAPH PER PRESS ASSOCIATION j FARMEUS’ EXECUTIVE. WELLINGTON, May E Tho Dominion Farmers’ Executive had a debate on the Arbitration Court, based on remits from several unions. Several members spoke strongly against tbe Coart and advocated its abolition. Tbe president. Mr Poison, considered Hint it would only result in chaos. T here were hot headed employers as well as employees. There was little chance of getting the Government to agree to the abolition. He suggested they should reaffirm the elimination of preference to unionists and third party risk, and that a suggestion lie made to the Court that all future awards should be based on five prosperity of the industry. A motion to this effect was carried.
An instance was quoted to the executive of alleged excessive charges on produce. -19 sacks of potatoes consigned from Ashburton to AA'el ling ton sold for £22 Is ild, and charges for rail, steamer, cartage, etc., were £ld Os 7d. Strong condemnation was expressed of such an impost on trade. One speaker said trade between the two islands was impossible under these conditions.
