AGED FATHER’S SUIT.
WELLINGTON, May 3. An interesting case commenced in tlie Magistrate’s Court to-day, when an ol<l npce pensioner. John Snell, nned 72, sued his son, Joseph Snell, solicitor, in charge of the Mortgage Department of the Public Trust Office, and earning £660 a year, for mainten" ante. He asked for £1 a week maintenance, stating that he had worked on 7s a day to give his son a college education, and now his son did not want him. He had been offered a home by an adopted son, Harry, but he did not want to live with his family, ns they were unkind to him, and had insulted him. The defendant had offered him 15s a week some time ago, but nothing more had been heard about it. Hugh Morrison, a farmer, of Masterton, for whom the plaintiff had worked off and on for thirty years, said that he would believe anything that the. plaintiff said. Defendant’s counsel contended thatthe plaintiff’s story was untrue, al-j though the plaintiff, because of his old j age, believed it was true. He sub-, mitted there was no case to answer. | The Magistrate held that there was a case to answer. . ! The case was adjourned to Friday,' when evidence for "the defence will, be taken. . _____ !
