(Australian & N.Z. Cablo Association.] CHANT AEROPLANE CRASHES. WASHINGTON, April 20. Lieutenant Commander Noel Davis and'Lieutenant Stanton Wooster were killed when the giant aeroplane, American Legion, in which they intended shortly to attempt a Paris flight, crashed near Mcssich, Virginia. 'I he machine became unmanageable and fell several hundred feet, when the airmen were trying to lift the full trans-At-lantic load of gasolene. The machine landed in n marsh, at the same time turning to avoid a group of trees in tlie line of liiglit. Both airmen died in five inches of water, several who entered the water and mud having no time to save them. This is the fourth inn scries of mishaps to trans-Atlantic fliers, commencing with the disaster to Fonek’s plane in 19JG in which two were killed, since when Byrd was injured and Chamberlain recently had a narrow escape. CALL FOR AID. NEW YORK, April 2!5. Hemingway (Mayor of Arkansas City) sent an aeroplane message to Littleroek, stating—We are in desperate need. The town has no bread. There are two thousand on the levee unfed since -Monday. All are in dire need. Please tel the world we need food, boats, shelter, tents and bedding.
