FOOTBALL.

The football match between the Excelsior and Knnleri Clubs on Saturday last served to open the football season. 'I iie ground was in splendid condition, and there were some good samples of individual and combined play. Neither side had their best team in the field and although the Excelsiors were the lighter team in the scrums their backs made im for this deficiency and should give some good exhibitions during the season. For Kanieri. Tninui drop-1 pod a goal from a mark. Mr A. Cutlnisli was referee. The first fixtures of the season will lie played next Saturday, when Excelsiors journey to Grey to play Uniteds and Kanieri play Stars on Cass Square. WEST! jA XD SUB- U XIOX.
