Tramways and electric lighting provided £740,509: general, £559,819, milk department £210,971, abattoirs £14,193. All ibc trading branches show a profit, and on the general account there is a credit balance of nearly £SOOO. The heavest items of expenditure were £173,000 odd for interest and leaking fund. £78,000 street works, £10,813 water works; Hospital and Charitable Aid £38,683, reserves £29,272, salaries 023,184. DRAUGHTS. WELLINGTON, April 21. The three last rounds of the Dominion draughts championship were contested to-day. .1. Gardiner beat G. A. Brown. This is the first time that the latter has been defeated in his previous 109 tourney games, lie having gone through the championship meetings at Dunedin in 1926, Now Plymouth in 1925 and he lost only one game at Gore Congress in 1924.
