TUie industrialists as a rebuke to the Parliamentary Lalxmr Party, for its attitude of moderation, refused to invite any of the politicians to the annual Labour Day banquet. As a. counterblast to this, the Australian Workers’ Union which supports the Government has decided not to participate in the banquet proceedings. There was a meeting of the Labour Council, which thereupon decided not to hold the usual street procession on Labour Day. The meeting also appointed a Committee to select candidates to oppose the sitting Labour members, and aldermen in the plebiscites for the next elections.
