BOWLING.
All interesting progressive pairs tournament was played on tlie local howling green yesterday, play commencing at 10 o'clock and continuing with an adjournment tor lunch until 0.30 p.m. Ij.idy supporters provided an enjoyable afternoon tea. The green was in very good order, and the play interesting. There were live games played and four leads, Messrs .1. King. Coles, liayhitllo and Brine tied with three wins and two losses each. Among the skips Messrs Thompson and Benjamin tied with lour wins and one loss each. There will he play each day during the coming week, hut the season will prohahly he closed down next Saturday. The season has heen a remarkably good otic for the amount ot play, and the generally good condition ol the ground, file work of the d.iretaker proving very satisfactory, and earning the commendation of the plfoyers. After the green is closed down lor the season, a light top-dressing will be given in preparation for next season’s fill ly.
