Further scenes of enthusiasm marked the last day of the Duke and Duchess in Queensland. The Duke received a number of immigrants and assured them they had a wonderful country. At a ceremony at the University, the degree of Doctor of Laws was conferred upon the Duke. Every win- < the Duke and Duchess hitherto visited in Australia, the predominant colours in the decorations have been scarlet and gold, the belief being that these colours belonged to the House of York. On being told the reason of tlieir predominance the Duke said he had no special colours.
