SEAMEN’S DEMANDS. MELBOURNE. April 13. A serious position in connection with inter-State shipping is again threatened. The Federal Management Committee of the Seamen’s Union has formed a new log as to wages to ho served on shipowners. The demands are a big increase in wages and also structural alterations in many of tl/d vessels trading on the coast. Secrecy lias been observed in regard to i/lie proceedings, but it is stated that unless the owners agree to an immediate conference on the new claim, tile seamen will he instructed to refuse to sail after a date to he fixed, except when engaged on the terms of the new log.
