AMERICAN CABLE NEWS

- (Australian & N.Z. Cable Association.] NEW YORK, April 12. The New A'ork Times financial editor, commenting on Air Churchill's statement that Britain is still the financial centre of the world, says—“ The i-ict that the credits totalling three hundred million dollars that were obtained here two years iigo will not be renewed, is accepted as a tribute to the progress made under the gold standard. These credits were never touched. and were arranged solely as li precaution. which is no longer necessary. AVhether London e-in claim still to he in tlie old time sense, the world’s financial centre, is perhaps another question. It certainly lias had to surrender a large part of its prestige in that regprd to New A'ork. The recent transfer of the financing of tlie British Dominions to the American market empliasises that aspect of the question.”
