HOKITIKA COLF CLUB. The Annual General Meeting was held in the County Chambers on Wednesday last. Mr J. C. Mncfarlnne presiding over an attendance of 111) members. The minutes of the last annual meeting were read and confirmed. CHAIRMAN'S REPORT. Ladies and Gentlemen,— I have the
honour to report on the operation of the Club for the past seasons as follows :
-Marches: Club Championship : Mr .1. A. Cliesney (bolder) : Ladies’ Championship: Miss M. Home (holder); Medal Aggregate (Cranston Vase): Mr K. 11. Williams; Bogey Aggregate (Captain's Trophy): Mr E. Partridge ; Mixed Foursome Handicap (Mr Scddon’s trophy): Mr and Mrs Neville; Opening Foursonic: Mrs Ross and Mr ICortegast ; Final Foursome: Mrs Moltram and Mr Partridge; Captain versus Secretary teams’ match : the Secretary’s team. The usual monthly medal and bogey matches were also played. Walker and Hall teams’ competition : A stroke handicap was again played in connection with this annual event but owing to adverse weather on the dayset down for the match the four best cards returned were not ol sufficient
merit to warrant the entry of a team. The usual inter-club match was played with Groynumth on the Mnhinapua Links on June Jrd (King’s Birthday). A “11” team from Hokitika visiting Greymouth oil the same day. The result in each case was in favour of Greymouth. It is regretted that owing to counter attractions on other full holidays return matches could not be arranged. The West Coast Tournament was held at Greymouth towards the end ol August under the best of weather conditions and proved a distinct success. It is regretted that owing to the prevalence of sickness at the time our Club was poorly represented and not of sufficient numerical strength to start a team in either the llalgleish Shield or Ladies’ Challenge Shield. Mi Lindsay Ross. professional coach, gave lessons for one week in Hokitika during the season and was kept fully engaged. Application will he made for the services of a coach diinig the coming season il sufficient inducement oilers and players desiring tuition should advise the Secretary as curly as possible.
Incorporation of Club: An important change in the constitution teas cH'octivl during the year whereby the Club herame a registered corporate body under the Incorporated Societies Act. 1898. A change in the vesting of the Club’s freehold property was also arranged with the result that it is now vested in the Club in lieu of Trustees who have held the positions since the year ]<;ll!l. This change teas considered advisable in order to provide a more compact form of control as the trustees had become scattered, with the result that the obtaining of their consents and signatures to any legal dealings with tin' property of the Club became a lengthy and cumbersome procedure. I might here refer to the valuable part these trustees played in the early history of the Club. They were amongst the very early, in fact the
pioneer members who were instrumental in acquiring the present fine freehold area which the Club finds itselt possessed of to-day. The condition of the links has been will maintained during the year due to the good wink of the groundsmen. I hanks are also due to Mr Mclntosh, the lessee for his judicious grazing of the links and his efforts to meet the ( lub as far as possible in this respect. The thanks of the Club aie due to T. F. Y. Seddon, Esq.. AI.P., and A. Fneil. Fsq. for trophies donated during the year and to the press for its courtesy in publishing drawing and results of matches. The out-going Committee recommend that the 1927 season be opened on Saturday next, the Bth instant, with a -Mixed Foursome Handicap Match and I desire to take this opportunity oT wishing members ail enjoyable season
and a continuance of the present esprit de corps which obtains in the Club. 'I he balance sheet for 1926-27 will now he read by the lion. Treasurer and will on the whole disclose a satisfactory position.

Morris; Committee, Alesdnmcs Alacfarlane and Stanley. Alcssrs Chesney. Neville. Houston, Coles and

A vote of thanks to the chair concluded the meeting. ANNUAL BKPOBT. Ladies. Your Committee beg to .submit the following report for the season 19t>«. Favoured hy good weather all the matches were got off up to time and the list appended herewith shows the winners of the various events. Our thanks arc due to donors of- trophies for the same, viz., Mesdames Butler, Prodie. Wilson and Miss Mandl, and also to Mrs Chesnev for a gift of afternoon tea spoons. It was satisfactory to have competition again for the Club Championship. This was won by Miss Moore, who thereby becomes the holder of the : Ladies’ Championship Cup for the ensuing year. ’ The Junior Championships was won by Mrs Diedrichs, who also played into ] the senior grade and reduced her handicap in same. It is greatly to be regretted that jowing to sickness and unavoidable cir- f cumstanees none of our lady players £
were able to he present at the West Coast Championship Meeting held in Greymouth. There is a probability that the Championship Meeting will bo on our home links ths year and wo hope that our players will give a good account of themselves. One of the matches last season was a hole play match on handicap, which proved most interesting and also helpful as regards rules in hole play. A\o would suggest that if possible another such match might he played during the coining season and started earlier; also that players occasionally engage in friendly competition under the sanio conditions and so improve their match pl :1 y while not iforgetting that medal scores must be returned for handicap
purposes. 11l L.G.U. Bronze Modal was won by Miss King. Unfortunately there was no competition for the Silver Medal owing to the revision of handicaps, hut as several players have now played into the Silver Medal grade this season will once more see competition for
Mrs Shaw will he much missed from r this grade, but we hope that we need only say An Kevoir to her and also to Mrs Wilson, while wishing them a verypleasant holiday. We wish to heartily thank the press for their unfailing courtesy in publish.
iug our reports and mutches. Our thanks are also due to the ladies of the club who by providing the Saturday afternoon teas have helped so considerably towards our substantial balance. The balance sheet presented discloses a very satisfactory financial position, which will enable us to make any necessary improvements to our dub House before the Championship meet-
Wliile regretting the loss of some old members your committee hope to welcome many new ones and that the season now opening may be as .successful as the last. PRIZE LIST.
