DAIRY CONTROL BOARD

■*£'» [Australian & N.Z. Cable Association.] BUTTER fAIPORTERS. AUCKLAND. April 7. Regarding ihe London Agency of the Dairy Produce Board, advice has reached Atmlkaud. indicating that Mr Paterson is not alone in his resignation. but that three representatives ot the London Importers’ Association, who were appointed as an Advisory Committee to the Board's London Agency in November last, had found it impossible to carry on, and in February last had severed their connection as advisors.

Other members of the Importers’ Association were persuaded. “ with some difficulty.” to take their places. It staled that, after three months, these advisors found it impracticable to carry on.

It was stated that the influence of these Advisors with the Board was ml.

Tn fulfilment of n promise made to the Now Zealand producers that they would afford the Hoard the fullest cooperation, the Importers’ Association decided to appoint three other members as an Advisory Committee, the members who accepted office being Sir Thomas Clements (head of the firm of Andrew Clement and Sons), M,r .Tamos Oillanders (a dairy produce broker), and Air Davidson (of J. and U. I.ansdale and Co. Ltd.). Ihe information now available suggests that the experience of this Committee was akin to that of its predecessor. Ml! COATES’S HINT. WELLINGTON'. April 7. When questioned on the matter, Afr Coates said there were no further developments regarding Air Paterson’s resignation from the Dairy Control Hoard at London, ft was possible, he said, that there might he an announcement to make within a few day*.

TOO LEY STREET’S VIEWS’. LONDON, April 7. The Tooley Street interests, although not i lesi rint' to- comment, regret Mr Paterson’s resignation from the New Zealand Dairy Control Hoard, as' they regarded him as the ablest member of the New Zealand Agency. Meanwhile, however, the New Zealand butter position is gradually improving. _ “ if the New Zealanders are wise. , said one authority, “they will seek to recover the trade’s good will here by co-operation with the trade. Denmark sells its weekly supplies as they are received. If New Zealand began winter dairying, and maintained its supplies all the year round, and if it sold all its produce freshly on its arrival in Britain, the New Zealand prices should equal those of the Danish produce.” WELLINGTON, April f>. At a meeting of the anti-control dairy producers this afternoon, it was decided to nominate James Hine, of TiKbrangi. as a candidate for No. 4 Ward for the Control Board election. The meeting was convened by the Free Marketing Board.
