I'r..m Canterbury Hoard in relerenoe to salaries of teachers of tin* secomiar class"., of 1 fokitikn District High School.— deceived. A discussion took ph'e arising, out of the recent meeting of the If it'll S'dmol Hoard, members asking why the Committee which had asked to he dialled to apocar as a deputation before the Hoard, had not been notified of tbe date of the meeting. There had been an agitation for the Hoard to apply to the Minister for nonnission to provide the eost of transit of scholars to the High School, hut so far as lie was aware no such application had been made. Ho thought the Hoard had failed in its duty to the scholars. He thought if the position was placed plainly before the Minister of Education the position of the scholars of the district would ho greatly improved. After discussion Mr Shannon moved that the Hoard he asked to write to the Minister asking for his approval for the expenditure of the monies of the High School Hoard in connection with the Hokitika School.
