Ihe report of the work of ihe St. John Ambulance Brigade for the year 19:26 lias just been issued by Colonel Barclay, Commissioner for New Zealand, and it gives some interesting miorniation with regard to the activities of the organisation. The membership ot the Brigade now stands at 996. an increase of nearly 290 during the twelve months. The number of services rendered (that is, first aid eases treated, eases nursed privately by lady members, hospital attendances and transport of the sick m.l injured) tototalled 16,139 against 9606 for the preceding year—a most satisfactory advance. No less than 7937 eases of fir-t aid were treated by Brigade members "bile on duty at public- functions of various kinds, while 638-1 instances of first aid were rendered bv members when not on public duty. Members of nursing divisions gave their services in nursing 488 eases. Four new divisions have been established during the year, and a number of others arcill contemplation. The report refers to the increased interest which is being taken in the work by ihe public, and to the necessity for an increase in ihe membership in order to cope with the demand which are now being made upon the services of the Brigade.
