Walker, who arrived from America by the Niagara, is making a short visit to this country with a view to securing Corricdnle stud sheep for some prominent breeders in his home State, Ohio. BANKRUPTCY CAUSE. : AUCKLAND March 30. "A man earning under £SOO n year can't run a car." said the Oflicial Assignee to Charles Benjamin Steele, who was under examination this morning. Bankrupt described himself as a linotype operator and the meeting was adjourned as the creditors are all in Palmerston Xortli, Wanganui and Napier and none attended. The statement showed liabilities at £56, and assets nil. Fleele said that he was married and had four children. Me failed hecaiise in .May. 102(1. he was persuaded to buy a second-hand ear for £llO. Me had undertaken to pay off £5 a month and matters became complicated, as the vendors also got judgment for repairs. Steele made an offer of ten shillings a week, saying that he did not wish to heat his creditors. Criticising the Palmerston North Dairy Conference to-day. Mr Dynes Fulton, the C'h airman of Directors of i the New Zealand Dairy Company, said that it had turned out exactly as he had expected. It was only represntative of one-fifth of the dairy companies of New Zealand. Peace and goodwill were unknown to this noisy minority, who lost no opportunity of causing a disturbance in the minds of the producers. who wanted only a square deal --and nothing less than that.

At a meeting of dairy men here this afternoon, the following resolution was passed: -‘That this meeting of dairy farmers and factory directors is of the opinion that when the present pool is concluded, the Dairy Control Hoard should be elected by the direct vote of the producers, and thinks it advisable that the Hoard should adopt such a scheme as that in force in Australia, or in lieu thereof, that it should he follow the lines of the scheme adopted hv the Meat Control Hoard.” DUNEDIX STATISTICS.
