I.AXI) AGENT’S LICENSE. | CIIIMSTCH ['lH'li, March '2B. In a case being hoard by the Magistrate to-day the Land Agents Association opposes the renewal o! a land agent’s license to 11. 11. Cook and Co. Ltd., on the grounds of unsatisfactory finances, and that Cook is not a proper person to bold a license. The objections were raised by the Land Agents’ Association, and tingrounds of objection relied on were the financial position of the company and the character of Cook, who. it was alleged, had been acting as Manager and Director, contrary to a decision of Mr Widdowson, S.M. in 1925. It was alleged that Miller was acting as “ dummy ” for Cook. For tile defence. Cook denied the suggestions of dishonesty and denied also" that he was the Managing Director. although he stated his wife and he himself were the largest shareholders. He denied also that the company’s position was unsound, or that the trust account was improperly kept. The Magistrate stated that it was evident that Miller had had nothing to do with the management for a long period last year, and that Cook had been acting as Director and General Manager. He was not satisfied as to the financial position of the company nor with the evidence as to Cook s character. The application would, therefore, be dismissed, and the objections would be allowed with costs.
