Blunt and Mills gave their side a splendid start by putting on 130 runs for the first wicket. Later on, Dacrc fell upon the tired howling, and he gave a spectacular display of hitting, which delighted the fair-shed crowd present. Bi'unt registered his third successive century in a test match innings—a feat which lias never before been approached by a New Zealand batsman. r l ho lowest score by any of the six batsmen was 35 not out.
