The Appeal Court 10-day is hearing the appeal of Walter liulston, a Christchurch tobacconist, against a decision by Judge Adams declaring bis premises to be a common gaming house. The respondent is A. Cameron (Inspector of Police at Christchurch). The case is the first in New Zealand under the law by which, on an affidavit by police official, the Supreme Court may declare premises a common gaming. .Mr Duuneli'y. for respondent, raised an objection that this was not a civil case and the Appeal Court had no jurisdiction.
