At a meeting of the Management Committee of the New Zealand Poultry Championship Association the Jlutt Society applied for the 7th and Bt.li of July ns show dates, and Hastings for the" Ist July, both being granted, .subject- to the approval of the annual Conference of affiliated Associations, which will he held at 'Wellington on April 7th. It was decided that the Conference consider the question of a revision of the Show schedule, which some .Associations suggest should be cut down, leaving it optional for Associations desiring more classes to arrange these. The Associations are requested to submit suggestions regarding an amended schedule. A satisfactory financial position is disclosed, the cash balance being £9l, with £2l still due from affiliated Associations and other assets valued at £52.

SOUTH AFRICAN TRIP. WELLINGTON, March 24

The invitation for a Rugby team to visit South Africa in 1928 lias been definitely accepted. Mr Dean says: — Indications are that the team will leave early in the 1928 season. The team, therefore, will be very largely picked on next season’s form. It is proposed to run a series ol trials on similar lines to those adopted in selecting the fast team for England.

APPRENT ICE’S ACT BREACH. AUCKLAND. March 21. Judgment of one shilling without costs was given in each of the three plaintiffs in the -Magistrate’s Court .to-day by Air E. C. Cullen, SAL. in delivering judgment in a case in which three plumbers’ apprentices claimed damages from their late employer for not finding them new employers, when lie was compelled to give up business. “The defendant, in discharging his apprentices without making arrangements for their transfer to another employer,” said the Magistrate, “lias committed a breach of the Apprentices’ Act, for which he is liable to ui penalty.” The Magistrate thought, however, that, although the plaintiff’s had proved a breach of contract, they had not suffered damage. Ho therefore .awarded one shilling damages to each without costs.
