WEDDING BELLS
TIDY KING. A very popular wedding was rcle11rated at All Saints’ Church, Hokitika, yesterday afternoon by *Rev. Canon Hamilton when Hiss Vera King, second daughter of «\fr (Sergt.) and Mrs C. J. King, of Hokitika - , was united to Mr Charles Henry Tidy, of the staff of the Napier “Telegraph,” Napier, son of Mrs C. 11. Tidy, of Ilford, Essex, England. The church was filled with the friends of the happy couple, and Miss Davies presided at the organ. The bride who was given away by her father looked charming in a frock of primrose chenille made with an uneven hem and deep v hack of gold brocade. The pale primrose veil formed the train, and was held in place with a coronet of orange blossom. A shower bouquet to tone completed a. charming toilette. The bridesmaid was Miss Iris Compton, of Masterton. She wore a dainty frock of floral shrimp pink and gold taffeta made with a tight, bodice and full skirt with a net hem. S'he wore a bandeaux of gold leaves and carried a posy of. blue and pink flowers. The bride’s mother (Mrs King) wore a smart ensemble suit of mulberry and hat to match. The friends included Miss Evelyn Trott, of "Wellington, and M iss Eileen Harland, of Wellington. Dir IT. E. Horn, 4 of Auckland, attended the bridegroom as best man. After the ceremony the gnests adjourned to Mrs Preston’s tea rooms where a party of upwards of IdO sat down to the wedding breakfast- and a very pleasant couple of hours was spent. Mr T>. .T. Evans presided over the gathering and the usual toasts were honoured. The Chairman proposing the King and "Royal Family. Rev. Canon Hamilton that of the Elide and Bridegroom. Hon. TT. L. Michel that, of the parents of the bride (Mr and Mrs C. .T. .King), Mr Wm. Wilson, that of the bridesmaid. Suitable responses were made and during the afternoon songs were rendered by Misses "Dowell (duet), Gillonly, Knight and Mrs- Chesterman. and the bridegroom (encored); Miss ably presiding at the piano. The National Anthen? snd .Vuld Thun*. Syne concluded an enjoyable gathering.
The happy couple were the recipients of many beautiful presents and a number of cheques, marking the high ostem in which they are held. The happy couple left in the evening on their honeymoon which will he spent in Christchurch on route to Napier. The bride’s going away frock was of fawn cloth with touches of mulberry and bat to tone.
