, TUESDAY, .MARCH 22nd. I ' ills Hoard met at 7.-'JO p.m. Present: Hon H.L. .Michel, Messrs J. J. Breeze, A. R. Elcoek. C. L. Green and H. (J. Wiley. The Secretary (Mr A. A. Andrews) took the chair and invited nominations for the position of Chairman. Mr Breeze nominated Hon H. L. Michel. Seconded by Mr Elcoek and carried nnanimously. Hon H. I>. Michel look the chair and thanked memhers for his re-elec-tion to the posit ion. which he had occupied since the inception of the Board. Mr Michel expressed liis pleasure at the recovery of their Secretary from his recent illness. The minutes were confirmed and outward correspondence approved. INWARD CORRESPONDENCE. | From Department of Internal Affairs, notifying the new Board would consist of the following:—Representing tho Government. Mr J. J. Breeze; the Underwriters’ Association, Messrs C. L. Green and H. G. Wiley; Hokitika Borough Council, Hon H. L. Michel and Air A. R. Elcoek.—Received,

The Chairman extended a welcome to Messrs Wiley and C.-i i. He moved n lvearty vote of thanks he. passed to the retiring members, Messrs Grierson, Watkins and Wilson.—Agreed to. Mr Green thanked the Chairman for his welcome. From ,1. F. Grierson, Christchurch, regretting Ids severance with tjie Board and expressing pleasure at the pleasant relations that had always existed.— Received. From Wellington Fire Board suggesting a Confernce of Fire Boards early in May. and inviting the sending of a. delegate.—Received. The Chairman to ic, present the Board. REPORTS. From Secretary reporting receipts C 129 15s sd; payments, £176 15s 9d; credit halnce £B9 ]s 9d.—Received. From Secretary reporting for the period that there were no discrepancies oil the tell-tale clock.—Received as very satisfactory. Accounts amounting to £297 L3s 6d were passed for payment. The Board rose at 8.10 p.m.
