New Zealand in the Test Match against Melbourne eleven, having turned a .seemingly hopeless position into one with the possibilities in it of seemingly ultimate victory. They have now 204 runs on, with five wickets in hand. It was a fine recovery, due almost wholly to a magnificent innings by Blunt, who, with Page, added 257 runs for the second wicket. Page, however, while hatting with determination, was never brilliant or very confident. In all their long day at the wickets, never did the batsmen got lioiVl of the howling, which was of a high standard till stumps were drawn. Ebeling was again the most dangerous agent in attack, keeping a good length, even when the hall was greasy after occasional showers. The rain did not stop the play, except on two occasions—once for five minutes, and once when it lengthened the tea adjournment to 25 minutes.
