Air J. S. Barrett has decided to send Count- C'avour to Sydney, to compete at the autumn meeting of the Australian Jockey Club. The Sydney Chip, on Easter ATonday, is his chief objective, but doubtless lie will also take part ill some of the weight-for-age, races Air Barrett has had the Sydney trip in mind for some time, but his final decision was only arrived at on Saturday, after his win in the Treiitham Gold Cup. Mr Jack Hartley, aged 83 years, passed away at the Old People’s florae at "Westport on Saturday. The late Mr ijartfey came from Lancashire, and was one of the original miners to start the' coal pit at Denniston.
