BOWLING.

HOKITIKA V. GREY-MOUTH. Ilokitika Club sent a four-rink team to Greymouth on Saturday afternoon to play a game, for the Reynolds Badges held by Hokitika. The weather in the early morning looked unpromising l>u- it cleared as the day wore on, and though clouding up in the afternoon rain held off until the last head was played, and then a sharp shower fell. Greymouth won easily, securing three out of the four rinks with good margins, Mr W. Fletcher’s rink securing the Badges. Afternoon tea was provided and the green was in good order, under t"?ie circumstances, being true and running freely. After the game the usual felicitous speeches were made by Messrs Thompson (Hokitika and McKay (Greymouth). Cheers for the Clubs, the ladies and the Buckles winners concluding a very pleasant afternoon. Details were:— HOKITIKA GREY Hoffmann Holmes Adams Ross J. King Mercer Benjamin (s). The Australian bowlers and ladies arrived here yesterday afternoon. After a. musical greeting from the visitors and a. welcome from the local President, play immediately commenced, Australia v. Bay of Plenty. The latter team was represented by Tauranga, Whakatane, Taenatun. and Opotiki. After playing until dusk, the home team proved victors by a narrow margin. The result was: Australia (Withuden skip) 25. Whakatane (Harris) 25. Australia (Scott) 24, Opotiki (Chambers) 22, Australia (Thorpe) 10. Taneatua (Rae) 28. Australia (Scott) 14. Opotiki (Wilkinson) 23. Australia (Farmer) IS, Tauranga (Cronin) 17. The visitors were entertained at a smoke social last- evening, and left this morning for Rotorua.
