AMUSEMENTS.

EVERYBQDYS’ PICTURES " AIV OLD DUTCH M —TO-NIGHT. In AT\ Old l)iitcli. ’ which comes to-night to tlie Princess Theatre and in which Miss AlcAvoy is supiiorted hy an all-star cast headed by Pat O’Malley, Cullen Landis and Jean Hersholt, the actress first appears as a beautiful young woman of the coster class, and in the course of the story grows old and feeble, as do all the other principal players, for the story is a pathetic romance, tinged with quaint humour, that covers a life-time. ‘ Depicting old ago is not a matter of grease paint at all,” Miss McAvoy explained, “ it is a matter of realising old age. The trick of surface makeup may help a little, lint infirmity is an inward thing that must he felt. One might look as wrinkled ns a fig on the. screen, hut the effect would only he incongrotis and ridiculous if the actor behind the make-up did not live the part. The story of “My Old Dutch ” is a deeply humanized tale of a happy pair of London costers, or vegetable mongers, whose inordinate love for their only son led them to make a great personal sacrifice in order that he might grow up in ignorance of the sordid side of life that had been their lot. Two lonely and desolate hearts pine for the love of their own, and are paid with ingratitude and disdain, as is frequently the ease in this life. Hut as usual in the movies, the story moves on. with highly amusing episodes to relieve the pathetic ones, until the sun shines again and hearts are light. Lawrence Trimble directed the picture. In addition to those mentioned the cast includes Agnes Steele, Patsy O’Bryne, Edgar Kennedy. Frank Crane. Rolfe Sedan, Violet Kane, Kathleen O’Malley, Shelia O’Malley, Newton Ilall, Zamu Zamoria, Jane Winton and George Siegman. A topic'll and comedy complete the! display to-night. On Tuesday Blanche Sweet, Lois Wilson, and Hen Lyon will appear ill a First National “Bluebeards of Wives.”
