TEST MATCH. NEW ZEALAND V. MELISOURNE. fay TEL-voRArn —run press association.) CM RLSTCH CiU 11. March 19. The feature of the test match New Zealand v. Melbourne Club 10-day was a sensational performance hv AY. K. .Merritt, the ,young leg-break and googly howler, who took 7 wickets tor ss runs. The Melbourne (,'lub's innings yielded 109 runs, t lie lmtsmen being well over all the howling except Merritt's. As a matter of fact, the howling was lamentably weak, being far below test standard, and little better than may lie seen any Saturday in club cricket. Cunningham and Read took the remaining wickets, hut neither howled really well, and Alloo, Blunt and Gnllichan were quite unconvincing. Of the Australians, Hendry, Jewell, Hansford, Kandfrml. and T. Armstrong gave fine displays of versatile hatting. The scores were:— NEW ZEALAND—First Innings. R. C. Blunt, e Eluding, b W. Armstrong 47 J. E. Mills, e A'.'. Armstrong, 11. R nils ford 11 M. L.
