A fea-‘ ture of the commencement of the hear- j\ ing was the determined effort by Sapiro’s counsel to inject the racial question and an equally determined effort by Ford’s lawyers to bar the same, tiio latter being eminently successful thus far. The jury consists of six men and six women. Two are Jews and Clansmen. Sapiro’s lawyers « outlining the case endeavoured to ' show that Ford accused Sapiro of heading a Jewish ring which attempted to control the farm products organisations, and introduce Bolshevism into farming community of United States which Ford vigorously denies. Ford also declares iho was never subpoenaed by Sapiro’s lawyers but agreed with the latter to testify voluntarily. He is expected to take the stand on the 21st
