IN WAR D C’ORR ESPON DENC'E. I' rom Mayor of Brunnerton thanking the Hoard for expressions of sympathy in connection wit'll the Dobson disaster.—Received. From R. F. Perham applying for leave of absence.—Received and six month. I *’ leave of absence granted. From Wnitennita Power Board advising in respect to proposed advertising campaign to popularise the use of electricity.—Received. From Minister of Mines thanking Board for the appreciative expressions with regard to the action taken by the I Mines Department in connection with the Dobson mining disaster.—Receiv-

Prom Mines Department considerable correspondence bearing on the dispose! of 'the Kurnara water races to the Hoard, together with confirmatory letter covering the acceptance by the Crown of the terms and conditions ns stipulated.—Received. Mr Murdoch, iu connection with the foregoing and in relation to further correspondence from the Secretary of the Provisional Company to undertake the generation of electric power and the reticulation of the district, detailed the result of the negotiations when recently in Wellington with the Chairman of the Board (Mr Butler). Finality was reached and the whole matter was now quite satisfactory to all concerned. The Board was in a satisfactory position in the matter and the ratepayers were secured from any contingent liability. Power and light would lie procurable for mining, milling, farming and other industries, and for lighting dwellings or towns at rates not exceeding stipulated Government prices, while the standard of the light was also safeguarded. All this would he available to the people without any charge or liability for development, present or prospective, and he thought the Board and the people at large were to be congratulated on the rj arrangements. and they would all unite in wishing It the success it deserved to ho.

The Acting Chairman moved a hearty vole of thanks to the Chairman and Mr .Murdoch for the very excellent and useful services rendered in obtaining the rights for the water races. Air Chcsterman seconded, and Messrs Unite and Wells supported. All spike appreciatively of the services rendered and the good work done on behalf of the ratepayers and the district. The motion was carried and All Murdoch thanked his colleagues for their cordial appreciation. Mr Murdoch then moved that the action taken and the proposals entered into by the delegates at Wellington, be approved. Mr Wells seconded. Carried. It was agreed also to approve the general conditions in regard to the subsidiary agreements. A resolution was passed also in respect to the arrangements of the necessary finance. The Controller and Auditor-General returned the annual halar.ee sheet for 19-25 certified to, subject to one exception, an advance for the payment of hank interest.—deceived. Tt. was stated the matter was to be adjusted before the dose of this financial yeai. The meeting concluded at 4.15 p.m.
