In a fifteen round professional bout here last night Jack Heeney (Gisborne) defeated Bob Fitzsimmons on a technical knock out in the thirteenth round, the referee stopping the fight to save Fitzsimmons further punishment. the whole bout both boxers traded in solid punches, toe to toe. The AA'ellington nun’s left eye was closed in the earlier stages. Heeney inflicted terrific punishment in flio last few rounds, Fitzsimmons earning great applause ' • wonderful gmneness. It was easily the most willing and exciting professional bout seen at AVuiroa. The Gisborne boxer's ring craft and fitness was much superior gradually wearing down Fitzsimmons.
