AMUSEMENTS.
EVERYBODYS’ PICTURES “THE CJRCLEV—TO-XIGHT. With marital trouble resulting from a double triangle as. a basis, “The Circle,” a Metro-Goklwyn-Mayer production, directed by Frank Bor/age, opens lat the Princess Theatre to-night. The screen production was adapted from the play by W. Somerset -Maugham, and is a brilliant contribution to pantomime art. None of the satire and irony for which the stfcge play was noted has been lost in transferring it to the screen. The treatment lias been made in a light vein, and many humourous situations have been created. Tt opens with a- prologue, in which the wife if an English lord elopes with their mutual friend. A lapse of 30'years occurs between the prologue and. the play. Alec B. Francis, Eugenie Besserer and George Fawcett offer fine portrayals as the first triangle. In the play, Eleanor Boardnian. Malcolm McGregor, and Creighton Hale form the second triangle. As the son of the deserted nobleman, Creighton Hale finds himself facing the same l!»te which befell his father. Eleanor Boardman, as the young wife, depicts the character in a most bewitching manner, Malcolm McGregor portrays the role of the young lover in a very forceful mwnner. Eidalie .Jensen and Otto Hoffman play character roles, which complete the east. The script was prepared by Kenneth Clarke. Chet Lyons was ’ the photographer. The latest in topicals and a good two reel comedy will ’also be shown to-night.
