[in TELEGRAM MR PRESS ASSOCIATION.] AUCKLAND, March 9. Foreign Mission work occupied the attention of the Methodist Conference to-day The. financial statement of the Methodist Foreign Mission Society for the year ended December 31st., 1926, stated that the expenditure in the, Solomon Islands district totalled £14,985 and £1,357 in the Now Zealand Office, making a total, with Sunday payments of £17,008. The total income was £15,670, leaving a deficit of £1,338. The income on the, capital account was £2,344. The income from their Banva Plantation account totalled £9,319. The estimated income of the Solomon Islands Mission for 1927 was shown as £17,000, of which Now Zealand was estimated to contribute £13,000 and the Solomon Islands £4OOO. Reference was made to the splendid response of young people to the call for missionary work, and it was stated tliat out of twelve candidates for the Ministry this year five had offered themselves for service in the mission fields. The report of the Methodist Women's Missionary Union stated there wore 38 affiliated auxiliaries, with a total membership of 2,411 out of a total church women membership of 15,000. The treasurer stated the receipts for the year were £3,431, an increase of £195.

It was decided to devote Sunday, May 22nd. as a special missionary day throughout the churches, when appropriate sermons will lie given, and lectures delivered to Bible classes. A week of thanksgiving will be observed prior to this special day.
