The 5 a.in. train on .Monday from Greymouth to Otira struck trouble at Aickciis. By some means the under doors of a hopper truck of coal opened and deposited the contents (eight tons of coal) on the railway track. Owing to the blockage the guard’s van ran oil' the line. Traffic was hold up for two hours while the gear was got into position and the van replaced.

Several of the passengers from Frankton to Auckland by the daylight limited express recently had difficulty in identifying their luggage the next day. One of the trucks of luggage waiting to he placed aboard the train at Frankton was apparently left standing too close of the edge of the pintform. and as the train dtew in three or four suitcases were thrown across the platform and under the wheels of the train. The suitcases were torn to ribbons, and to the amusement of the spectators, hoots and shoes, articles of clothing and underwear, tooth brushes, hair brushes, and toilet ware of every description were strewn along the line in profusion for a distance of three or four carriage lengths. The debris was quickly gathered together in one heap and placed aboard the train to he taken to Auckland.
