AU REVOIR
There was a complimentary gathering to Air R. F. Peiham, late of the firm of Alalfruy and Coy, sawmillers, at the County Chambers last evening, when a representative gathering was belli to say an re voir, prior to Mr Pcrham's departure for a holiday to A incn’ra. His Worship the .Mayor ‘Mr G. A. Perry) presided, and apologies were received from .Messrs W. F. Williams, T. AV. Duff and Garnet Perry. The Ai: vor said they were assembled to take a .short farewell of Mr JVrham. who during his stay among them had been an active citizen and in public and private life had been a busy man. lie expressed the best wishes on helm It ol the community to Mr l’erham for a pleasant holiday trip, and trusted tic would return renewed in health, and
strength tu continue l’or many years more with tlieni. lie extended also host wishes to -Mrs Perham and family. Air J. Alurdoch was pleased to associate himself with the kindly remarks of the Mayor to -Air Perham. They all hoped the trip would benefit Mr Perham and that lie would return reinvigorated. .Mr Murdoch felt it would he hard to say adequately how much Mr Perham was appreciated. Recently his employees had {riven a flattering testimony to their guest. He was appreciated hy his workmen and it was a great tribute to find him so much at one with liis employees. Also as a public man he deserved this tribute from the citizens. He Imped when Mr Perham returned lie would he able again to take up his business with them. Air Alurdoeh concluded hy wishing Air Perham a safe return and quite recovered in health. Air J. -1. .Mclntosh had pleasure m supporting the remarks of Air Afurdoch and the .Mayor. They all hoped Air Perham would ho bcnefitted hy the trip. He had been a useful citizen taking part in various public bodies. Air .Mclntosh knew that the late cim ployeos greatly appreciated Air Perham and it was a fine testimonv to have
the appreciation of' one’s employees. -Mr M.. 11. Houston joined in wishing •Mr I’erham :i safe and pleasant trip. The worth of Air Rerhnm as a citizen was fully realised and generally appreeiated.

Civil Service, was glad to appreciate Mr Perhani for his mam- good finalities. and hoped their guest would have a good trip. Mr Guthrey was pleased to have an opportunity of saying a few words. .Mr Rerhani was leaving a line record behind him, and it was going to lie difficult to follow in his steps. But he hoped with the fine spirit prevailing among the workmen to do his host, lie. knew that his lather who had been a partner with Mr Perhani greatly ap.
preeinted the latter’s worth. •Mr R. E. Perhani said he had a difficulty in finding words to acknowledge all the good things said of him. As tar as the town was concerned lie was sorry lie was not able to do more for the place. Of late the business he was engaged in was somewhat .strenuous.
and he had to stay on his work and keep the wheels of industry going. Regarding the sawmilling industry he did not think those engaged in the industry devoted enough attention to propaganda, so that the public would know move about the industry. He was an advocate of more publicity, and much could be done in that direction to achieve results. Regarding the Government lie was unable to see what! was being done of value for the country and particularly for the milling industry. He would lie away a few months, and when lie returned he hoped to see things on a better footing and lie wished the town and district all prosperity.
