TOWN HALL PICTURES. “THE DEVIL’S BOWL” TO-NIGHT. At the Town Hall to-night at 8.30 o’clock the star picture for presentation is “The Devil’s Bowl.” The story shows that Helen Hand (Catherine Bennett) irs 'visiting Jim Sands and his wife, owners of the Diamond L. Ranch. Helen is engaged to Sam Ramsay (Neal Hart) the good matured foreman of the Diamond L. Ranch. Jim receives a letter address to Sam. His wife tells him not to let Helen see the woman’s hand writing on the envelope. Helen, however, sees the letter and asks Jim to let her take the letter to Sam. Jim gives the letter to Helen on condition that she gives up quarrelling with Sam and treats him with more respect. Helen promises to do this, and Jim gives her the letter. Helen takes the letter to Sam, and asks him what it is all about, hut Sam will not tell her. saying she would not understand. Helen is annoyed that Sam will not trust her. Next morning Sam fells Jim lie is leaving and asks to sec Helen, having decided to tell Helen the contents of the letter. Jim’s wife discovers that Helen has left- during the night, leaving a note. Sam then explains that he and Helen quarrelled over the letter he received. Sam goes to Mexico and meets Sergeant Jerry O’Neill of the Mounted Police, who directs him to the “Devil’s Bowl.” Sam tells the sergeant he is prospecting. The Mounted Police know of one entrance to the “Devil’s »BowI,” being unaware of another secret tunnel which is known to Andy Walker, a fugitive from justice and a horse thief. Sam arrives at his destination and finds Mary Walker in a deserted shack and very ill. They prepare to leave and are just about to go when Andy Walker arrives. He is being pursued by the mounted police. Hurriedly he orders Sam to change clothes with him and escapes through the secret tunnel. When the police arrive, they arrest Sam, but Alary pleads for him, saying lie is her husband and that lie stole for her so as to take her to a Hospital in Texas, so that she may he cured. The police set Sam free. Andy re-,ap-pears and shoots liis wife. Sam shoots Andy, but he escapes. Sam is then taken to headquarters. One night Sam. appears at the home of Helen Hand where they are having a Dig Sam then tells his story and accuses the head foreman of the. ranch, who, in reality, is Andy Walker masquerading as Lute Chaney. The supports include tho oth. episode of “The Purple Riders,” the interesting serial, and a good comedy. Usual prices.
