[Australian & N.Z. Cable Association.]
JN THE COMMONS. LONDON. Alarch 2,
In the Commons a Bill for altering the Royal style, titles and style of Parliament, in accordance with the Imperial Conference recommendation was read for the first time. Mr Sullivan, in introducing a private members’ motion. drew attention to the unemployment.
Mr John said the Ministry of Industry and mine owners showed discrimination against active trade unionists. Referring to the Monmouthshire and Nottinghamshire disasters, he declared “ We miners feel very strongly on occasions like this that we don’t want expressions of sympathy from certain quarters.” Deputy-Speaker Fitzroy i “That remark is out of order.” jli- John, in seconding the motion, said, without imputing blame on anyone for the catastrophe, it would bo desirable for the Government to ascertain whether the owners, being obsessed with the idea of increased aitd cheap production, were at present adopting policies tending to increase the possibilities of accidents.
