LfSRORXE, February 28. .'■l four o'clock this morning, a (ire broke cut in an eight-roomed house owned by the estate of the late C. R. Davie . and occupied h\- Dr MrSweeney. One room was destroyed, and the remainder of ilie building was damaged by water. Dr -.lcSweeney ami his wife woke at the sound of crackling of the Haines and escaped in their night attire. The, house was insured in Lhe National j Office for two thousand. Miss Davies’ furniture, which remained in the residence, was insured for live hundred in the same office, and Dr M(Sweeney's furniture and surgical instruments were insured for live hundred in the South British. At 8.30 the Brigade turned out again to a minor outbreak, also in Kaiti, hut there was no damage. This marked the third occasion the Brigade lias been called out since the Dominion delegates to the Fire Brigade Conference began to assemble in Gisborne, the first outbreak', occurring on Saturday morning, when a six-roomed house al Tahaparn was destroyed.
