[by TELEORArn —rER PRESS ASSOCIATION.! THE DUKE FISHING. TOIvAANU. March I. The Duke was astir in good time tins morning and alter an early breakfast Trent down the stream with Earl Cavan. , The- fish were rising, and the Duke presently hooked a trout which though l it proved when landed to lie only a four-pounder gave the angler plenty of exercise. Earl Cavan also got last to a fighting beauty estimated at a fourteen pounder which made good play for over half an hour, and got free when almost near enough to he galled. The Duchess joined the anglers about eleven o’clock and lunch was to he taken in a shady nook by the riverside. , The whole day will be given over to fishing. The camp this morning looked a picture of rustic peacefulness. Clouds still overhang the locality lnit the sun broke through at intervals lighting up the broken water of the rapids, alongside which the tents were pitched and turning the canvas into a fretwork of light arid shade as the beams filtered through the leafy covert of Kowhai trees.

Away in the distance to the southward Kaimnnawa ranges stretched athwart the picture while close behind on the other side of the camp Pilianga mountain (the legendary lady on whose account Taranaki (Egmont) was forced into exile) reared her verdure-clad shoulders into low hanging clouds. Only a few privileged visitors entered the precincts of the camp.
