SWIMMING CARNIVAL

The fourth Swimming Carnival at the .Municipal Baths last night attracted another good attendance though not as large as on the previous gatherings, 'he evening was warm, and pleasant and a good programme was given. The Band played several selections in Weld Street prior to the sports. During the evening before the polo match started. Mr Evans presented the badges donated by -Mr Mclntosh to the holders of the polo games ; and also made reference to the good work done by .Mr A. IF Lawn in connection with the swimming baths, expressing regret that ill health prevented his attendance. .\ vote of thanks and appreciation to Mr Lawn was carried by acclamation.

Mr AY. Keesing gave an interesting display of the Ainiite Cristo act, ,jumping from the tup platform tied in a, sack enveloped in flames, the lights being put out for the moment. The act was very successful. Dir Keesing extricating himself and reaching the other end of the bath before the lights

were turned on again. The particulars of the sports were as follow :
