ADDINGTON STOCK SALES. DROP IN BEEF AND LAAIBS(By Telegraph.—Special to Guardian.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. .Messrs 11. Alatson and Co. report as follows regarding their stock sale at Addington yards yesterday : Store sheep—Another very latgi. yarding and eamnriscd mostly North Island and travelled ewes. Although there were more lambs than last week not many wethers were yarded. Both wethers and lambs were fairly firm, but ewes were easier. The quality generally was very indifferent, and mostly sliowcd decided signs of travel. Not many local owes were offering and North Islanders were not up to tile usual standard. Two-tooth Romney cross ewes 21s to 295, I. (i and" s.m. ditto 20s Od to 25s Gd. others 27s to 20. Rape owes and doubtful mouths 10s to 15s. forward wethers 18s Od to 21s. others to 10s. Best forward lambs 17s (id to 2()s, medium I ts Od to 17s, others to Bs. Store cattle—A small yarding and mostly nondescript lots and no quotable difference in prices. Beef —Another large yarding of 012 head. A large proportion, were cows but also included several exceptional
lines of well finished steers. Ihe market can be quoted roughly at 20s per hem! easier, although prime medium steers or handy weight heifers did not show the same decline. Prime steers £ll to £l3 10s, extra, to £lO 7s od. medium C 9 to £lO 15s. ethers to £7 10s. Prime heifers £i to £S 10s, extra to £ll 2s 6d, medium £5 to £0 10s, others £1 10s. Prime cows £0 to £7 lO.s. extra to £9 15s. medium Cl 15s to £5 15s, others to £3 10s.
Mutton—A much larger yarding than last week and comprised mostly owes. The. quality "as very irregular, although there were several outstanding lines of wethers yarded. Ewes were easier by Is to Is (id but wotlicrs showed little if any difference. Exporters were apparently not so keen. Prune wethers 27s to 295, extra to 33s Id, medium 24s Od to 20s Od. others to 21s. Prime ewes 10s to 21s. extra to 23s -Id, medium 23s to 2(is Gd, others to 11s.
Lambs A smaller yarding and Ilia quality was much below the average. The market was considerably easier on all classes of inferior or unfinished lambs. Prime quality, however, showed little difference to last week. Graziers’ competition was not keen. Several lines of West Coast lambs were
yank’d, which. for the most part, wore' very oiain. Prime lumps 2-1 s Gd to 27s fid, medium 22s to 21s, others to 18s fid. Pigs—Baconers, a medium entry, including several lines from the Atcst •Const. Prices were rather firmer. Const lots were oil the heavy side. Cho])|)ers £2 15s to £5 2s Gd, hneoners £■! to £-1 7s (id, lighter ditto £3 to £3 15s, extra to £1 15s. average 5Jd to fit l l per lh. Porkers, light 45s to 545, heavy to 635; average TJd to Bpi per lb. Stores—A large entry and fair competition. Wcaners 12s to 245, slips 27s to 345, medium stores 35s to 41s, larger to £2 15s, sows 55s to £4 ss.
