Thrills aplenty were provided at the New Plymouth motor cyole races on Saturday, when record fields eontestect most events, necessitating' heats on two occasions. The New Zealand Middleweight Championship was won by Tl. Aloller for the third time, with W. If. Herbert second and R. Ranby third, tho ten laps being covered in Smins, 41 l-osecs. The final of the Class l( event, was won by A. New (Alanaia), with A. Marker (Hastings), second and J. Hamilton (Stratford) third. The Jockey Club Handicap went to L. C. Curtis (Hamilton) with H. Putt (Otakeho) second and H. V. AfeCready third. The Ansford Handicap was won by W. L. Thorpe (Stratford) with A. Harker second and A. New third. J. R. Arnott (Hawke’s Bay) won the New Plymouth Handicap, W. If. Herbert filling second place and R. Morrison (New Plymouth) third. The West Open Handicap foil to W. H. Rurkctt (Wanganui). 11. Putt being second and L. Coulthard (Auckland) third. The Moturoa Class A Handicap provided a win for H. Afangham (Wellington), L. Coulthard being second and L. C. Curtis third. The Consolation Prize fell to Cod Walker (Auckland), J. Hamilton taking second money. A. Lemon (Napier) third and L. Coulthard fourth. P. C. Coleman rode unplaced in several races.

DUNEDIN. Feb. 10. The appearance of R. AY. Lamb (Victoria) and F. 0. Grose (New Zealand) in the cycling events at the Otago centre sports to-day proved a good draw. Lamb won the half mile and three milo races with electrifying sprints. Grose rode well. A field of four in the half mile went away very leisurely and the race was d.tlled off at the end of one round. Sent away again, Grose looked a winner in the last lan. but a 50yds sprint by Lamb put him a wheel ahead of the New Zealander. The time was 1.17. Lamb won his beat in the mile by 20 yards in 2.23 2-5. Nicholson was second. Grose ran second to D. Fraser in the other beat, which was run in 2.21. Fraser (I.7oyds) beat Lamb (scr) and Gras (scr) in the final, the time being 2.24 2-5. In tho three mile, the result was Lamb (scr) 1. Grose (scr) 2, Nicholson (70yds) 3. Tho champions quickly picked up Nicholson, and at the end of a mile fell in behind Hie limit men. Lamb went away at the home turn in a brilliant sprint, and won by eight lengths in 7.41 2-5. Grose broke 'a pedal in the last lap.
