' The Federal Government lias decided to call tenders for an air mail service between Perth and Adelaide, which should result in saving four days in the delivery of mails from London. VICTORIAN PROTEST. MELBOURNE, February 22. Much dissatisfaction has been caused in country centres of Victoria over the arrangements for the Yorks’ visit. Of eight days devoted to \ ictoria nil will be spent in Melbourne. Only one country centre Ballarat, will be officially visited. Their Highnesses calling there for half an hour en route to Adelaide. Mr Bruce, replying to protests, said Melbourne, being tlie Federal capital, the programme bad necessarily to include important Federal functions as well as those of the State and within the time available it was impossible for the Yorks to visit all parts. The programme bad been drawn up bv the Federal Government in order to make reasonable provision for the visitors rest and comfort. ABORIGINALS PROTECTION'. ADELAIDE. Feb. 22. A petition authorised by the Aborigines Protection League of South Australia is being presented to the Federal Parliament ns soon as possible, ■‘after the transfer to Canberra, asking that a model aboriginal state he constituted to be managed ultimate!'by i» native tribunal as far as possible according to their lows. The petition also asks that provision be made that ultimately tlve Government ibe conducted bv aboriginals and at some future time the Administrator lumsolr be an aboriginal.
