A team representing the clubs of Westland played at Greymouth yesterday a team representing the clubs of the district at the Recreation Ground. The home team won by an innings and twelve runs, scoring 220 (Mclntosh 51, Nightingale 36, Thomson 52, Barlow 42). The visitors made 101. (Webster 28, Morris 2G) and 112 (A. E. In the .Macartney benefit cricket match yesterday Australia in the first innings made 533. Ponsford scored 131, AVoodfull 140, Andrews (not out) 115, Gregory 44, Alacartncy 20, and Everett 26. In the bowling, Williams took 6 lor 174, ATcNamee 2 for 122-. The Rest of Australia, in the second innings made 32 for no wickets. Morgan scored 25. Stumps wrec then drawn. AVoodfull and Ponsford gave a delightful exhibition, and put on 223 for the first wicket. This is Ponsford’s sixth century during the present senson, and is an Australian record. Andrews made many fine shots, but took no risks.

Alacartncy on going to bat, was given an enthusiastic ovation by 25,000 spectators. He was also cheered by the rest of Australia, led by Vie. Richardson. A feature of tho game was the wicket keeping by O’Connor, who allowed only one bye.
