CANTERBURY EDUCATION BOARD.

The Canterbury Education Board met at Christchurch on Friday morning. Those present were: -Messrs AV. P. Spencer (ehariman). AA’. A. Banks, G. W. Armitagc. AA'. If. AVinsor, J. G. Gow, E. IT. Andrews, C. S. Thompson, AA'. Johnson. R. AA'ihl, T. Hughes and 11. J. Bignell. After some discussion it was decided to hold the next meeting on March 16th.

Appointments confirmed included— Ron, Af.iss Al. f,. Parker, sole teacher. The teacher at To Kingn School reported the regular attendance of Ella Abbott for nine years. It was resolved to award a special certificate. The appointment of probationary teachers confirmed included the follow-

ing : Cobdon. Rohina E. Anderson (Hokitika). Hokitika, Isabella G. A'onle (transferred from Runanga). Xgahere. Jean E. Dixon (Kokatalii)Ross, Robert G. Chalmers (Ross). Runanga, Jane Booth (Greymouth). T lie winners for the year of the Seddoii medals were declared to he:—Hugh A. Jones (Greymouth Technical High School) first hoy; Xoeleen D. Trane (Greymouth Technical High School!, first girl. Harihari: Committee asks for a revision of the conveyance contract. Afessrs Bignell and AA'ild were deputed to confer with the Committee on the matter when in the district regarding Evans’ - reek School. An application from the Kakapotahi committee for (a) alteration of household school, owing to increase in roll number; and (h) provision of tank and washbasins, was referred to Afessrs Ringed and AA'ild for report. Tlie foreman’s report for the month was received and adopted.
