LATE LOCALS.
The Mayor of Greymouth has been notified that the Duke and Duchess of York will lie unable to attend the proposed Royal Ball at Greymouth. Yesterday morning a destructive fire occurred at Kotuku, completely destroying the sawmill of Mr 'I homas Dillon. with t.he exception of the engine. Tt is not known what the cause of the outbreak was. Mr Olsen passed tbe mill about 1 a.m. in bis motor car, when there was no sign whatever of lire. An hour later, however, the mill was ablaze, and there was no chance of saving it. The engine was scarcely damaged, but all the other apparatus was demolished, as well as the structure. There "as no loss of tinilier. ns the output is stacked at some distance from the mill. The loss ot the mill will throw fourteen workers out of employment.
