The Grey Muniopal Hand left yesterday for Wellington to take part in the A. Grade contest there.

The Paroa annual excursion takes place to-morrow, the rendezvous being Cass Square, Hokitika.

A meeting of the Westland Power Board was held at the C maty Council Chambers last, evening. Mr W. Butler presided, and the Board sat in committee to deal with various matters and proposals with regard to the details of the proposed purchase of the Kmnnru water races. It was also agreed to permit Kanieri Electric Ltd. to simply electrical energy to a resident at South Hokitika.

As far as the Zane Grey party is concerned, there is no comparison between the drifting and trolling methods. Twelve marlin have been raised by the trolling method, seven of which were caught. Some of the mako were also caught trolling. Only three swordfish wore caught by drifting.

The quarterly meeting of Westland Lodge N .89, U.A.0.15. was held in the lodge room last evening, when a good attendance was presided over by A. D. Bro. R. Ferguson. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed, outward correspondence read and approved, inward read and received. Bards reported sick members doing well. Sick pay to the amount of £l2 6s 8d was passed for payment. A ballot for a new member proved successful. Accounts were passed to the amount of £l3 11s Gd. The competition For the silver cup for the Arch-Druids charge then took place before Judges P.D.P. Bro. Fox. P.A. Bro. Ballinger and P.A. Bro. Findlay. After a keen competition the judges placed Bro. Turner the winner of the cup with 291 poinfs. The various competitors thanked the coach A.D. Bro. Ferguson for the time and patience that he had devoted in coaching them. The judges then complemented the competitors one and all tor their vers fine rendition of the charges. One member was proposed for ballot. After the cup was presented to Bro. Turner by A.D. Bro. Ferguson the lodge dosed in harmony.
