FIRE AT GREY
IN MACKAY STREET. A lire broke out about 1.45 p.m. in Mackav Street in Ah' C. Uddstrom’s large furniture warehouse. Ihe flames got a big hold and the whole of the premises were gutted. The lire spread to the rear portion of AF.essrs G. M. Afoss and Co’s warehouse adjoining. There was a danger at the time of advice of the fire spreading to the rear of Dixon and Co’s. LATER. At 2.45 p.m. the lire was well under control Uddstrom’s place was well gone, being practically gutted. Afoss and Co’s premises at the hack were gutted hut the front portion was not damaged. Fred Johnstone (Commission agent) and secretary of the Licensed Victuallers. who had an office in Uddstronv's buildings, was aso burnt out. The cause is unknown. FIRE SPREADING. A serious lire is raging at I ddstrom’s furniture factory, Afackay St. A wind is fanning the flames, which are spreading to tiie adjoining premises.
