The Muriliiku .secured an early advantage. but was passed on the turn by tbe Rona and tlie Betty. The Rona secured a lead which seemed secure, but the Betty chased Her all the way, and in tlie last stretch of the triangular course, n run before a, fresh breeze with all sail out, the Betty drew level, and the two boats raced abreast, wing to wing. A few yards from tlie line. Rona drew ahead to win by two seconds. The order was:—Rona I. Betty 2. Avalon 3. Muriliiku 4. Winifred a. The Peggy did not finish. FIFTH RACE. In the fifth race to be sailed to-mor-row morning, only the winners of the previous races, the Betty, Avalon and Rona, will compete. CORNWELL CUP. CHRISTCHURCH. Feb. 15. The third race for the Cornwell Cup this morning was won by the Sea Pearl (Auokljmd) with rfche -Winsome (Hawke’s Bay) second. Tlie Gadfly (Wellington) won the race very easily by 7-1- minutes, but sho was disqualified for fouling a buoy. The placings were:—■ Auckland 1. Hawke’s Bay 2, Christchurch 3, Lyttelton 4. Otago 5. Southland did not finish in the fourth race, GADFLY WINS AGAIN. This afternoon the Gadfly, for the fourth tune, crossed the line first. Her .superiority makes it certain that the crew drawing this boat is sure of a win this time. The Napier crew were lucky. The boys’ race was sailed in a fullsaill north-easter, with a choppy sea. Tlie result was:—

Hawke’s Bat’ 1, Southland 2, Auckland 3, Lyttelton 4, Christchurch 5.

Auckland lias now two wins, Southland one, and Hawke’s Bay one. Qtago has drawn the Gadfly for tomorrow morning’s race.
